  24. version -- on the RS/6000?  Also, "ckermit 4E at&t" doesn't sound quite
  25. right.  The RS/6000 is made by IBM, not AT&T.  It sounds to me like you
  26. are running not only an ancient, but also totally misconfigured and
  27. inappropriate, version of C-Kermit on the RS/6000.

  35. Let's install a version of C-Kermit on the RS/6000 that dates from
  36. the modern era and that is configured for the appropriate version of
  37. AIX:

  39. anonymous ftp to kermit.columbia edu, directory kermit/archives,
  40. binary mode, file cku190.tar.Z (or .gz for gunzip).  Uncompress,
  41. untar, read the instructions at the top of the makefile, and then
  42. give the appropriate "make" command, for example:

  44.   make rs6aix32c
  45.  
  46. for AIX 3.2, which should produce an executable called "wermit".  Try it
  47. out and if it's OK, install it as "kermit" in the desired location, such
  48. as /usr/local/bin.  Read the ckuins.doc file for additional installation
  49. instructions.
